Good tires are essential for your car because they are the only point of contact between your vehicle and the road. Here's why having high-quality, well-maintained tires is important:
Safety
Traction and Grip: Good tires provide the necessary traction to grip the road, especially in wet, snowy, or icy conditions. This improves braking, acceleration, and handling, reducing the risk of skidding or losing control.
Shorter Stopping Distances: Worn or poor-quality tires increase the distance it takes for your car to stop, particularly in emergency braking situations. Good tires help you stop quicker, which can prevent accidents.
Handling & Control
Stability: Tires in good condition provide stability and balance to your vehicle, especially during sharp turns, quick manoeuvers, or driving on uneven surfaces.
Steering Response: High-quality tires improve steering responsiveness, making it easier to maintain control over the vehicle at high speeds or in difficult driving conditions.
Fuel Efficiency
Reduced Rolling Resistance: Well-maintained tires with proper tread depth and inflation reduce rolling resistance, which means the car uses less energy to move forward. This leads to improved fuel efficiency and lower running costs.
Comfort
Smooth Ride: Good tires help absorb shocks from bumps and irregularities in the road, providing a more comfortable and smoother ride for both the driver and passengers.
Longevity of Other Car Parts
Reduced Wear and Tear: Tires that are in good condition reduce the stress on other vehicle components such as the suspension, brakes, and steering systems, helping them last longer and perform better.
Legal Requirements
Tread Depth Laws: In many countries, there are legal requirements for minimum tread depth (usually around 1.6 mm in the UK). Driving with worn-out tires can result in fines, points on your license, and even void your insurance.
In summary, good tires are essential for your safety, the performance of your car, fuel efficiency, and compliance with the law. They play a crucial role in keeping you and others on the road safe.

Ghost Immobiliser Installation

Our team will fit your Ghost Immobiliser which will protect your vehicle from theft by preventing the engine from starting without your unique PIN or the presence of your smartphone with the app downloaded.
When the immobiliser is fitted, it means that even thieves who steal your keys or use wireless key technology to break into your car will not be able to drive off with it. The Ghost Immobiliser System is also installed into your vehicle’s CAN Data Network, so thieves will not be able to detect it or disarm it through simple wire cutting. You really can feel safe in the knowledge that your vehicle is not going anywhere without your say-so.
Security and convenience: when you get your Ghost Immobiliser, you will create a unique PIN up to 20 digits long using the buttons on your dashboard and steering wheel which must be entered before the engine will start, just like a PIN on your bank card. Alternatively, you can download the Autowatch app on your smartphone, which will allow the engine to start when your phone is present using Bluetooth. You are able to pair two phones with the immobiliser.
Engine blocking: without either using your PIN or the presence of your smartphone, thieves will not be able to start your engine. This means that even if thieves steal your keys or use relay theft techniques, without towing your car’s going nowhere!
Undetectable: the Ghost 2 Immobiliser cannot be detected by sophisticated scanning tools which some thieves use. It also does not use radio frequency, so this can’t be detected either.
CAN Data Network: the immobiliser uses your vehicle’s CAN Data Network to feed and receive information from your car. This means that there’s no wire cutting upon installation and the system is silent.
Service and valet mode: this mode allows your car to start temporarily whilst it’s in the garage for some work without a PIN, so you don’t have to give other people your PIN.
PIN change: you get in your car and your mind goes blank, you can’t remember your PIN - we’ve all been there. Luckily, there’s a reset code for each immobiliser, so you don’t need to panic about not being able to drive your car.

Shock Absorbers & Suspension

Get in touch with us for an instant quote on the right shock absorber for your vehicle’s make and model.
Checking your car's shock absorbers is essential for ensuring a smooth ride, improving handling, and maintaining the overall safety of your vehicle. Worn-out or damaged shock absorbers can affect braking, steering, and tire wear. Here’s how to check your shock absorbers:
Visual Inspection
Leaks: Check for oil leaks around the shock absorbers. If you see oil or fluid on the shock body, it’s a sign they are worn out and need replacement.
Physical Damage: Look for visible damage like dents, cracks, or rust on the shock absorbers or mounting brackets.
Worn Bushings: The rubber bushings that connect the shock absorbers to the car can wear out. If they appear cracked, dry, or deteriorated, it may be time for replacement.

Brake Discs & Brake Pads

Safety is paramount. Trust our specialists to provide effective brake solutions to keep you secure on the road.
Brake discs (rotors) and pads are critical components of your car's braking system, responsible for slowing down and stopping the vehicle. Regularly inspecting and maintaining them is essential for your safety. Here's how to check your brake discs and pads and why they are important:

Brake pads press against the brake discs to create friction, which slows down your vehicle.
Why Brake Discs Are Important:
Smooth Braking: Brake discs provide a smooth surface for the pads to press against, ensuring efficient braking. Worn or warped discs can cause braking issues and reduce stopping power.

Heat Dissipation: Brake discs dissipate heat generated during braking. Worn or damaged discs can overheat, leading to brake fade (loss of braking power).
Signs You Need to Replace Brake Discs or Pads
Brake Warning Light: Many modern cars have sensors that detect when the brake pads are too worn, triggering a dashboard warning light.

Squeaking or Grinding Noises: As mentioned, these noises indicate that the pads are worn or the discs may be damaged.

Longer Stopping Distances: If you notice that it’s taking longer to stop your car, it could be a sign of worn-out brake pads or damaged discs.
Vibrations: If the brake pedal or steering wheel vibrates when you brake, it’s often a sign of warped discs.

Soft or Spongy Pedal Feel: This could indicate worn pads, a problem with the brake fluid, or air in the brake lines.
Professional Inspection and Maintenance
If you're unsure about the condition of your brake discs and pads, it’s a good idea to have them professionally inspected. A mechanic can check for wear, measure the thickness of the discs and pads, and determine if they need replacement.

In summary, regularly checking and maintaining your brake pads and discs is essential for your safety, ensuring effective stopping power, and prolonging the life of your braking system.

Exhausts

Our expert technicians can assess and replace your exhaust system, ensuring your vehicle runs efficiently and cleanly.
Checking your car's exhaust system is important for maintaining fuel efficiency, reducing emissions, and ensuring safety by preventing harmful gases from entering the cabin. Here’s how we check your car’s exhaust system:
Professional Inspection
Diagnostic Tools: A professional mechanic can use diagnostic tools to check for issues with the exhaust system, such as a faulty catalytic converter, damaged sensors, or hidden leaks.
Emissions Test: If you're due for an emissions test, an exhaust system inspection can help identify any issues before the test. A faulty exhaust system can cause your vehicle to fail the test, leading to costly repairs or fines.
Common Problems with Exhaust Systems:
Corrosion: Especially in regions with high humidity or where salt is used on roads, rust is a common issue that weakens exhaust components.
Exhaust Leaks: Can lead to dangerous fumes entering the vehicle or reduce engine performance.
Clogged Catalytic Converter: Causes reduced fuel efficiency and can lead to engine damage over time.
Regularly checking your exhaust system helps maintain your vehicle's performance, safety, and environmental compliance. If any issues arise, it's important to address them promptly to avoid more significant repairs and potential safety risks.

Clutch Fitting

Clutch replacement can be costly, if carried out wrongly. Get in touch with us today for exclusive offer on our clutch replacement service for your vehicle.
A clutch allows the driver to engage and disengage the engine from the transmission. When you press the clutch pedal, the engine is disconnected from the transmission, which allows you to change gears or stop without stalling the engine. Releasing the clutch reconnects the engine to the transmission, allowing the car to move again
Signs of a worn or failing clutch
Slipping Clutch: If you notice that the engine revs up but the car doesn’t accelerate as expected (especially when going uphill or accelerating hard), this could indicate that the clutch is slipping. This happens when the friction material on the clutch disc is worn out.
Difficulty Shifting Gears: If you have trouble shifting gears smoothly or if the gear stick feels stiff, it could indicate a clutch problem. This could be caused by a worn clutch disc, misalignment, or hydraulic issues in the clutch system.
Spongy or Stiff Clutch Pedal: A clutch pedal that feels too soft, spongy, or too stiff can indicate issues with the hydraulic system or the clutch linkage.
Grinding Noise: Grinding sounds when changing gears might suggest that the clutch isn’t disengaging fully, causing the gears to grind. This could be due to a worn clutch disc or a misadjusted linkage.
Burning Smell: A burning smell, especially after heavy use of the clutch (e.g., in traffic or on hills), could indicate that the clutch is overheating and the friction material is wearing out.
Vibration or Shuddering: If the car shakes or shudders when releasing the clutch, it may indicate a problem with the clutch disc or pressure plate. This is often referred to as "clutch judder."
How to Maintain a Clutch
Avoid Riding the Clutch: “Riding the clutch” refers to resting your foot on the clutch pedal while driving, even when it’s not necessary. This puts constant pressure on the clutch and can lead to premature wear.
Engage Neutral When Stopping: When stopping for a longer period (e.g., at a traffic light), it’s better to put the car in neutral and release the clutch pedal. Holding the clutch down can cause unnecessary wear on the release bearing and clutch components.
Smooth Engagement: When starting from a stop, avoid letting the clutch slip excessively. Gradually and smoothly engage the clutch to minimize wear.
Downshift Correctly: When downshifting, match the engine speed to the new gear (rev-matching) to reduce the strain on the clutch and transmission.
Avoid Overloading: Carrying heavy loads or towing can put extra strain on the clutch, leading to quicker wear and tear

Car Batteries

We offer a comprehensive range of car batteries to ensure your vehicle starts every time.
Car batteries are essential for starting your vehicle and powering its electrical systems. A healthy battery ensures reliable engine starts, especially in extreme weather conditions, and powers components like lights, radio, and electronic systems when the engine is off. Here's a guide to understanding and maintaining your car battery:

A car battery provides the electrical energy needed to start the engine and powers various electronics when the engine isn’t running. Once the engine starts, the alternator takes over to recharge the battery and provide power to the electrical systems.
Signs of a Weak or Failing Battery
Slow Engine Crank: If the engine turns over slowly when you try to start your car, it could be a sign that the battery is losing charge.
Dim Lights: Dim headlights, interior lights, or dashboard lights when the engine is off or just starting can indicate a weak battery.
Electrical Issues: If accessories like the radio, power windows, or other electronics don’t function properly, the battery may not be providing enough power.
Clicking Sound When Starting: If you hear a clicking sound when you try to start the engine, it could mean the battery doesn't have enough charge to engage the starter.
Swollen Battery Case: A bulging or swollen battery case may indicate that the battery is overheating or damaged due to extreme temperatures, reducing its effectiveness.
Battery Warning Light: If the battery or charging system warning light illuminates on the dashboard, there may be an issue with the battery, alternator, or other components of the electrical system.
Frequent Jump-Starts: Needing frequent jump-starts indicates that your battery is no longer holding a charge well, and it might be time for a replacement.

Aircon Re-gas & Repairs

Over time, gas can permeate the air conditioning system, making it less efficient. Regular re-gassing helps keep it working properly and prevent costly repairs later.
Air conditioning (AC) re-gassing in cars is the process of refilling the refrigerant in your car’s air conditioning system. This refrigerant is essential for the AC system to cool the air that blows into your vehicle. Over time, the refrigerant levels can decrease due to leaks or normal wear and tear, which results in less effective cooling or no cooling at all. Here's a detailed guide on car air conditioning re-gas
What is an AC Re-gas?
AC re-gassing involves removing the old refrigerant gas from your car’s air conditioning system and replacing it with fresh refrigerant. This process restores the cooling performance of your AC system and helps maintain the correct pressure within the system to ensure it operates efficiently.
Why Does a Car’s AC Need Re-gassing?
Over time, your car’s AC system can lose refrigerant through small leaks in seals, valves, and connections. Even a fully sealed system can gradually lose refrigerant over several years, leading to reduced cooling performance.

Common reasons you might need a re-gas include:

Loss of Refrigerant Over Time: The AC system naturally loses small amounts of refrigerant, often around 10-15% annually.
Leaky AC System: Small leaks in the hoses, seals, or connectors can cause refrigerant to escape.
Low Cooling Performance: If your AC system is blowing warm or less cool air, it could mean the refrigerant level is low and needs a top-up.
Signs Your Car Needs an AC Re-gas
Warm Air from Vents: If your AC is blowing warm or mildly cool air instead of cold air, it may indicate that the refrigerant level is low.
AC Takes Longer to Cool the Cabin: If it takes longer than usual for the car to cool down, the refrigerant may not be sufficient to properly cool the air.
Unusual Noises: If you hear strange noises when the AC is running, it could be a sign that the system is struggling due to low refrigerant.
AC Clutch Fails to Engage: The AC clutch engages when the refrigerant pressure is at the right level. If it doesn’t engage, it could mean the refrigerant is too low.
Bad Odour: Sometimes, a low refrigerant level can cause moisture to accumulate in the AC system, leading to unpleasant smells due to mold or mildew.
How Often Should You Re-gas the AC?
Most manufacturers recommend an AC regas every 1-2 years to ensure optimal cooling performance. However, this depends on how often you use the air conditioning and the condition of your car's AC system.

Timing Belt Fitting Service

The timing belt (also called a cam belt) is an essential component of a car's engine that synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft(s). This ensures that the engine’s valves open and close at the correct times during the intake and exhaust strokes, relative to the position of the pistons. Get in touch with us today to get the best prices on Timing belt change for your vehicle.
The timing belt (also called a cam belt) is an essential component of a car's engine that synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft(s). This ensures that the engine’s valves open and close at the correct times during the intake and exhaust strokes, relative to the position of the pistons.

Here’s a detailed look at what a timing belt does, why it’s important, signs it may need replacement, and what happens if it fails:
What the Timing Belt Does
The timing belt connects the crankshaft to the camshaft, coordinating the movement of the engine's pistons and valves. The crankshaft drives the pistons, while the camshaft controls the opening and closing of the valves. The timing belt ensures these components move in perfect synchronization, preventing the pistons and valves from colliding.

In some engines, the timing belt also drives other components like the water pump or oil pump, which are crucial for engine cooling and lubrication.
Why the Timing Belt Is Important
If the timing belt fails or becomes misaligned, the engine’s valves can open at the wrong time, potentially causing the pistons and valves to collide. This can lead to serious engine damage, including bent valves, cylinder head damage, or even piston damage, which may require a costly engine rebuild or replacement.
